The United States Pro Kart Series, presented by MG tires and IAME USA East, and its regional series, the Route 66 Sprint Series, presented by MG Tires and Franklin Motorsports, have released the track layout for their much anticipated upcoming events at New Castle Motorsports Park.

When the Route 66 series hits the track on April 17th-18th, they will be running the layout known as Backwards #1.  This layout features the “National Track”, run clockwise, and the banked triangular section heading south from I-70 added in.  USPKS will utilize the same track layout when they return on April 29th, making the Route 66 event the perfect testing platform for the National racers.  (As per the rules, there is no practice for series competitors during the period of the Monday thru Thursday (USPKS allows Thursday practice) immediately prior to the events.)  Interested parties can view the selected track layout here.

The tentative weekend schedules have been posted to the respective Series websites, although they are subject to change, pending entries.  Entries for Route 66 are currently capped at 50/class, with USPKS capped at 50/class, except KA Jr & KA Sr., which are capped at 100 and scheduled for split prefinals and an LCQ.  50 karts will start the main events.  USPKS’ Southern GP at Ocala featured 60 KA Sr and 50 KA Jr drivers, and we expect that number to increase for the Heartland GP at New Castle.  This will be the season opener for the Route 66 series.  Registration for both series is currently open, with each closing at midnight on the Saturday immediately prior to their respective events.
